Binh Duong Province is set to ask Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) for increased power supply after receiving a slew of complaints from businesses about regular power outages.

Nguyen Thi Dien, director of the province’s Department of Industry and Trade, said Wednesday the current supply met only 83 percent following the mushrooming factories and companies in the province.

Electricity of Binh Duong, a unit of the state monopoly power supplier EVN, in coordination with local industrial parks, cuts power during peak hours only one day a week.
Binh Duong-based Apex Vietnam Company said it had suffered losses of more than US$14,000 this month due to power cuts.
