These results came from a vote by the readers of Travel & Leisure. The magazine described the terraced fields of Sapa located in the northern province of Lao Cai as ‘ladders to the sky’.

It said they have helped attract a great many tourists, who travel to Lao Cai city by train before going by coach to the Sapa tourist area to experience both the rice fields and the hospitality of ethnic Mong and Zao girls in colourful costumes and to soak up the view of Mount Fansipan, the highest peak in Vietnam (3143m).
