The Ministry of Finance has decided to lower the import tax on kerosene by 5 percent to 30 percent, starting on July 6.
The reduction is to ease the financial burden on petrol businesses that are operating at a loss, according to the ministry. However, petrol businesses say that the 5-percent tax cut has a minor impact on their operation as a small amount of kerosene is used by consumers. The ministry has also announced that the import taxes on petrol and diesel oil remain unchanged at the same level of 20 percent.
