Marriott signed a management agreement with Binh Minh Import Export Production & Trade Co. of Vietnam to open the 450-room JW Marriott Hotel Hanoi, the Maryland-based company said.
The new hotel will be located near the National Convention Center in Tu Liem District, about 7.5 kilometers west of central Hanoi and 22.5 kilometers south of Noi Bai Airport.
Marriott is expanding in Asia as travel demand in the US is declining. The company has 111 hotels in 16 Asian countries and is building more than 50 properties in the region.
There are two Marriott hotels in Ho Chi Minh City, and a 271-room JW Marriott Resort is scheduled to open in Da Nang in 2013.
“Vietnam ranks high in our strategic global expansion plans,” Ed Fuller, president and managing director for international lodging for Marriott, said in the statement. “Vietnam remains committed to long-term economic growth and to capitalizing on its attractiveness as a tourism destination.”
