Intel Semiconductor Vietnam Co. Ltd. and the Vietnam Post and Telecommunications Group (VNPT) on Thursday (06 Aug 2009) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in research and development (R&D) for new technologies in integrated services between personal computers (PCs) and the internet.

The two sides will set up cooperative mechanisms between VNPT subsidiaries, computer companies and financial institutions to introduce packages of integrated services between PCs and broadband ADSL internet service or PCs and 3G services to meet a variety of user demands.

The cooperation includes co-developing specialized programs for the education and healthcare sectors and for small and medium enterprises. The two sides will research and develop integrated services comprising telecom and information technology such as Information Technology Outsourcing, Software as a Service and Server on Demand.

Intel will be in charge of consulting and planning strategies and timelines for applicable software to optimize the operation of VNPT based on Intel’s technological structures. Intel will also play the role of assistant and sponsor software producers under VNPT in research and development for new services and products.
