It also joined forces with the Ministry of Information and Communications to host a conference on mobile solutions for Vietnamese companies in Hanoi on the same day.
The Canadian company specializes in ICT solutions and wireless modems transferring data via broadband mobile networks, said Jin Park, vice chairman of Sierra Wireless Asia-Pacific. Its solutions range from Automatic Telling Machine applications and electronic shopping (EPOS), data security for mobile devices for banks and financial institutions, vehicle tracking systems for transport or logistics enterprises and project management teams, to data and communication connections in rural areas for telecom enterprises.
The conference, besides discussing the latest technological solutions in the development of the third generation (3G) cellular network and supporting solutions for the market of wired and wireless communications, provided more knowledge about the market and demonstrated the latest communications devices.
Though the development of mobile networks of 2G and 2.5G is running at full speed with more add-on services, slow data transmission speed is still an obstacle, according to Nguyen Phong Nha, deputy head of the Telecom Department under the information/communications ministry. For that reason, the ministry has licensed the infrastructure establishment of 3G networks meeting IMT-2000 standards at the frequency band of 1,900-2,200 MHz to start offering telecom services meeting Wideband Code Division Multiple Access (WCDMA) standards.
