Grant Thornton’s survey was conducted on 7400 business leaders of 36 economies in the world.
In Vietnam, up to 72% of the leaders of private enterprises interviewed have replied to their level of stress signs of increasing over the years. This rate is higher than many other countries such as Greece (68%), Finland (33 %), etc. and just lower than China (76%), Mexico (74%).
Mr. Ken Atkinson, management director of Grant Thornton Vietnam, said: "There are four main factors that trigger high levels of stress in Vietnam is fluctuating economic situation, workload, level of competition on the market and pressure on the cash flow supply. This is also admitted by the ownesr of private enterprises in the world and Vietnam, while 38% admit the idea that stress is due to the situation of economic recession in 2009; 26% confirmed they stress as cash flow supply, 21% because of competition and 19% due to workload pressures.
The survey also showed a relationship between stress level and number of days off for each individual per year. According to statistics, the stressed people are who has holidays per year are average or very low. In Vietnam, the holidays are just seven days per year. Mr Atkinson said: "There is sufficient basis to believe that there are many days off then the stress level will be lower. Experience working with private companies tell us, for more time to relax will help give new ideas in the dramatic decision of business owners.
