Local air carriers have announced new prices for their domestic services after the Ministry of Finance approved their proposal to increase prices earlier this month. National carrier Vietnam Airlines (VNA) said on Thursday that the new maximum airfare for its economy-class services had been increased by 20 per cent compared with the current rate.
VNA said it had increased single tickets for the HCMC – Hanoi route by 15 per cent, from VND2.22 million ($106) to VND2.56 million, excluding taxes and surcharges.
Single tickets for HCMC – Da Nang flights were also increased to VND1.7 million from VND1.4 million, while fares for other shorter routes would also be increased by 20 per cent.
VNA said there was a range of prices available for passengers to choose with the minimum price of VND1.05 million, excluding taxes, being offered at certain times.
Budget carrier Jetstar Pacific also raised its fares as of December 16.
Accordingly, one-way tickets for HCMC – Vinh and HCMC – Hanoi services now range between VND950,000 and VND2.5 million, not including taxes and surcharges, and for HCMC – Da Nang, from VND490,000 to VND1.64 million.
Meanwhile, VietJet Air, which is Vietnams’ second low-cost carrier, said it had yet to announce new airfares. This carrier is currently offering only one route connecting HCMC and Hanoi, with single tickets costing VND900,000. |
