This EZ is regarded as a sea-based economic center for the Northern Central Coastal region and the nation, focusing on harbor service, and industrial, financial, banking, tourism and commercial activities. The Dinh Vu-Cat Hai Economic Zone is established to serve for Hai Phong City and Northern Central Coastal Area’s socio-economic development.
Total population of the economic zone in 2010 was 106,823 and is expected to rise to 310,000 by 2025.
It consists of tariff and non-tariff zones.
The non-tariff area is located on a land area of 1,258 ha to the South of Dinh Vu and Lach Huyen port, involving mainly in processing, advertisement, exhibition, service, monitoring, customs and national defense.
The tariff area is built on 12,532 ha, housing a port system, industrial areas, public service area and a specialized center.
