Germany will continue assisting the central province of Thua Thien-Hue in education, heritage preservation, bomb and mine clearance, resettlement, and coping with natural disasters in more appropriate forms.

In the meantime, the German Federal Foreign Office is sponsoring a poverty reduction and bomb and mine clearance project in the province. German State Secretary of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development Hans-Jürgen Beerfeltz made the statement at a meeting with the Thua Thien-Hue People’s Committee on October 12.

The German side is also funding a project to restore the interior of the Ta Vu (Mandarins’ House) in Hue Royal Palace in the 2012-2013 period. The 139,660 EUR project is the fourth in Germany’s international assistance package for the preservation of Hue former imperial city.

Chairman of Thua Thien-Hue People’s Committee Nguyen Van Cao said Germany’s assistance has significantly boosted the locality’s socio-economic development.
