The Dong Nai Port Joint Stock Company on September 23 began construction of a 30,000-ton pier at Go Dau Port in Dong Nai Province to serve transportation of alumina and other types of cargo in the southeastern region.

The pier will include a 250-meter-long, 22-meter-wide main wharf and a 32-meter-long, 12-meter-wide bridge. As scheduled, the VND200-billion project will be completed and put into operation after 12 months from now.

Nguyen Thi Bach Mai, general director of the Dong Nai Port Joint Stock Company, said the construction of this pier will facilitate faster cargo handling for businesses in Dong Nai Province and other parts of the southeastern region.

The 30,000-ton pier work is part of the first phase of Go Dau B Port project. The goods throughput at the port is estimated at 1.4 million tons per year.

Alumina transported from Tan Rai in Lam Dong Province will be transported to Go Dau Port before continuing its waterway journey to foreign buyers.

The port system in Dong Nai Province includes major facilities like Long Binh Tan, Go Dau A and Go Dau B, located in favorable locations for transportation by road, water and air.

After major projects like the HCMC-Long Thanh-Dau Giay Expressway and Long Thanh International Airport are completed, transportation of goods among HCMC, Dong Nai and Ba Ria-Vung Tau will become more convenient than at the moment.
