Vietnam earned nearly US$17 billion from exports of mobile phones and spare parts in the first half of the year, a year-on-year surge of 16 percent, according to the General Department of Vietnam Customs.

 The agency said that the shipments accounted for 20.7 percent of Vietnam’s total export revenue, which reached more than $82 billion in the same period, posting a 5.7 percent increase year-on-year.

Garment ranked 2nd with nearly $11 billion, up 6.4 percent over last year.
 
Computers, electronics and parts ranked 3rd with nearly $7.9 billion, followed by shoes with $6.3 billion and wood and wood products with $3.2 billion
 
Exports of other commodities, which contributed significantly to total export value two years ago, have seen a sharp decline.
 
Crude oil export gained more than $1.1 billion, down by nearly 47 percent over last year. Export of cameras and parts earned the same amount, a year-on-year decrease of nearly 7 percent.
