"We are excited by the growing investment that companies are making in Vietnam, from investments in the semiconductor ecosystem to the clean energy supply chain, which is creating new opportunities for Vietnamese workers and businesses," Ms. Yellen said at the beginning of the meeting .
The US Secretary of the Treasury reaffirmed outstanding achievements in the development of bilateral relations, especially economic relations. She shares more about her personal experience with female entrepreneurs , "as an economist, I know I have a lot of experience like the people with me for lunch today. For example, I know what it feels like when youre the only woman in the room or the decision-makers."
US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen visited Vietnam on July 18-21 to discuss bilateral economic relations and regional issues. She is expected to hold bilateral meetings with Vietnamese officials, emphasizing that the deep economic relationship between the US and Vietnam helps create greater economic resilience through what she calls "friendshoring" - placing production in friendly countries. Secretary Yellen will also emphasize that the United States considers Vietnam a key partner in the Indo-Pacific region and highlight efforts to deepen the trade and investment ties that are so important between the two countries.
In addition to meeting female economists and entrepreneurs, Minister Yellen is also expected to have a number of other side activities such as visiting a start-up company, participating in a discussion organized by Foreign Trade University, giving a speech on the importance of developing a resilient supply chain through efforts such as "friendshoring" and responding to climate change.
Minister Yellens visit takes place in the context of the two countries celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Comprehensive Partnership.
