1 Vietnamese port is in the top of the largest seaport group in the world

Vietnam, we are increasingly taking advantage of our geographical advantages near the sea in trade. The clearest proof is that our container seaports are increasing their cargo volume to enter the group of the busiest seaports in the world.
With the advantage that the country has a high ratio of coastline length to mainland in the world when on average, there is 1 km of coastline for every 100km2 of land, Vietnam has an extremely developed and well-developed seaport system. Expansion over the years! The seaport system plays the role of a focal point serving import and export as well as creating a driving force for socio-economic development of the country.
According to Decision No. 804/QD-TTg, dated July 8, 2022 of the Prime Minister, Vietnam has a list of 34 seaports of Vietnam, of which there are 2 special seaports, Hai Phong seaport and seaport. BA Ria Vung Tau.
Vietnam has 11 seaports of class I, 7 seaports of Vietnam class II, including 14 seaports of class III.

In 2022, the maritime magazine Lloyds List (United Kingdom) announced the ranking of the 100 container ports in 2022 with the largest cargo throughput in the world. Worth mentioning, there are 3 representative names of Vietnam appearing in this list: Hai Phong, Ho Chi Minh City and Cai Mep ports. Accordingly, in this ranking, Hai Phong seaport holds the 38th position (growth of about 10.8%) of cargo in 2021, Cai Mep port ranks 32nd with 5.32 million Teu (up 22%). Ho Chi Minh City Port ranks 22nd in the list with a throughput of 7.9 million Teu in 2021.
Most recently, the World Bank and S&P Global Market Intelligence have published the container port performance index for 348 container ports worldwide (CPPI).
Worth mentioning, Cai Mep port (Ba Ria - Vung Tau) has won an impressive position that is 12th, even higher than some major seaports such as Singapore (18th place), Yokohama - Japan (position 18th), 15th), Busan - Korea (22nd).
With the throughput of container cargo reaching more than 4 million Teu/year, Cai Mep port cluster is classified as one of the largest seaports in the world. This cluster of ports still maintains 13th position (technically, gives a higher weight to the popular vessel sizes in that port).
Besides, a series of Vietnamese ports also entered this list, including: Da Nang Port (Da Nang); Saigon Port (HCMC); Port of Hai Phong (Hai Phong); Quy Nhon Port (Binh Dinh) and Chu Lai Port (Quang Nam).
Previously, in 2021, four Vietnamese seaports entered the ranking of the Container Port Performance Index. Cai Mep port ranked 13th with 148.4 points, followed by Vung Tau port ranked 37th with 100.9 points, Hai Phong port ranked 63rd with 67.1 points, Cat Lai port ranked 145th position. with 19.8 points.
