The Secretary of the Hai Phong City Party Committee has just requested relevant units to speed up the progress of developing industrial parks to soon form a clean land fund to attract production facilities.

Currently, in Hai Phong City, there are a number of industrial parks that have been approved for investment but have not yet come into operation, including: Vinh Quang Industrial Park Phase 1 (Vinh Bao District); Trang Due Industrial Park 3 (An Lao District); Nomura Industrial Park Phase 2 (Hong Bang District); and Nam Trang Cat Industrial Park (Hai An District). At a recent meeting, Secretary of the City Party Committee Le Tien Chau emphasized that in 2025, Hai Phong was assigned by the Government to achieve an economic growth target of 12.5%, 1.56 times higher than the average growth rate of the whole country. To achieve this goal, it is necessary to have the synchronous participation of the entire political system, consensus from the people and efforts of enterprises operating in industrial parks in the area.

For industrial parks that have not yet been approved for investment, the Secretary of the City Party Committee assigned the Party Delegation of the Hai Phong City People’s Committee to direct a thorough study of industrial development needs, planning factors, land, and human resources to promote projects. In particular, priority will be given to developing models of ecological industrial parks, high-tech industries, and special supporting industries in the Southern Coastal Economic Zone of the city.

The Southern Coastal Economic Zone of Hai Phong City has an area of about 20,000 hectares, oriented to develop into a multi-industry economic zone of international stature, with pillars of high-tech industry, modern logistics services, smart urban areas, eco-tourism and a pilot free trade zone. This is considered a new economic growth driver, and at the same time a foundation for Hai Phong to affirm its role as a marine economic center, an international logistics center and an important growth pole of the region as well as the whole country.

By 2030, the Southern coastal economic zone is expected to become the main driving force of the city’s economy, equivalent to about 80% of the current capacity of Dinh Vu - Cat Hai Economic Zone. This will also be an important nucleus in linking with neighboring economic zones, forming a chain of coastal economic zones, a development pillar for the entire region. According to the plan, this economic zone can contribute about 550,000 billion VND to the budget and create 301,000 new jobs.

Hai Phong has a land area of 1,561.8 km2, is the 4th largest city in Vietnam (after Hue, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City), the 2nd largest in the North and is one of 6 centrally-governed cities of Vietnam.
