Chairman of the People’s Committee of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province Nguyen Van Tho has just reported to the Government Office on the project of logistics center in the province.

According to the provincial president, the project of the logistics center has an area of ​​about 1,763ha, including: logistics center and downstream Cai Mep port (984.24ha); water surface area (455.77 ha); land for storing clean energy storage (197.65 ha); potential water surface area (125.34ha).

Total estimated investment is about 19,200 billion VND, which does not include site clearance costs.

Cai Mep Ha logistics center and downstream port have a strategic position in the international maritime route, can accommodate ships with a tonnage of 200,000 - 250,000 DWT, is the largest type of seagoing vessel on the long-distance sea route today. berth to the project area.

Belgium and the Netherlands consecutively sent many notes for the project

According to the President of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province, the Cai Mep Ha logistics center project is interested by the Dutch Government and the Belgian Government and has many notes sent to the Prime Minister to be assigned to a consortium of EU investors. -VN includes Besix Company- IPEI Company (Belgium) - Hateco Company (Vietnam) - Boskalis Company (Netherlands) is an investor to implement the project.

Specifically, during his visit to and working in the Kingdom of Belgium on October 16, 2018, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and Belgian Prime Minister Charles Michel witnessed the memorandum of understanding between Hateco Logistics and IPEI NV on collaborative research on this project.

Next, the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands also has two notes on the proposed Vietnam - Belgium - Netherlands cooperation for the project.

By May 2019, the Embassy of the Kingdom of Belgium had a note on the cooperation between Belgium and Vietnam in the development of the Cai Mep Ha logistics center project.

In September 2020, the Dutch ambassador and the Belgian ambassador continued to send a letter to the Prime Minister asking to meet to report the proposal on the progress of implementing the Cai Mep Ha logistics center project and request consideration of the proposal. of an EU-VN investor selected as the project investor.

Responding to the recommendations, the Government Office assigned the People’s Committee of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province to propose and propose feasible solutions to the Prime Minister to quickly promote the implementation of the above logistics center project.

The project is awaiting comments from the Ministry of Planning and Investment and the Prime Minister

After the Prime Minister’s request, on September 15, 2020, the People’s Committee of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province issued Decision No. 2802 approving the construction zoning project of 1 / 2,000 scale for Cai Mep logistics center project. Ha in Phuoc Hoa ward, Phu My town.

In addition, the province assigns the Department of Natural Resources and Environment and Phu My town to coordinate the work of approving land use plans, identifying land origins, determining preliminary compensation plans for site clearance.

From there, the Chairman of the province asked the Government Office to report to the Prime Minister to assign the Ministry of Planning and Investment to assume the prime responsibility for, and coordinate with relevant ministries and agencies to consider and comment on investors’ proposals. and other relevant matters, report to the Prime Minister for consideration and decision in accordance with the Law on Investment.

On the basis of the conclusion of the Prime Minister, the Ministry of Planning and Investment shall organize the evaluation of the application for investment policy approval according to regulations.

As VietnamFinance mentioned, at the meeting with the Prime Minister in mid-September, Dutch Ambassador Elsbeth Akkerman, Belgian Ambassador Paul Jansen and investors of the European Union (EU) raised ideas. to invest in the construction of the Cai Mep Ha logistics center project.

According to the idea, this project is worth 984 million USD, aiming to develop Cai Mep Ha to become a leading center for transportation, container and export of agricultural products from the Mekong Delta to the EU.

Prior to this proposal, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc affirmed that the Government always creates favorable conditions for foreign investors and large enterprises, especially the EU to do business and invest in Vietnam.

Prime Minister assigned the People’s Committee of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province to coordinate with the Ministry of Planning and Investment to consider the investor’s proposal on the project and report to the Prime Minister on relevant issues.

Previously, in March 2019, the Geleximco Group of giant Vu Van Tien and International Transport and Trade Joint Stock Company (ITC CORP), also proposed to invest in the project of Cai Mep Ha logistics center and harbor. Lower Cai Mep.

According to the proposal, the project is expected to be invested in Phuoc Hoa ward, Phu My town with an area of ​​about 1,168ha, total investment of about 30,616 billion VND. It is expected that the project implementation period will be from 2019 to 2025.
