The Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) said it would complete many major works by the end of this year.

The 114-megawatt third turbine of the Tuyen Quang Hydropower Plant in northern Tuyen Quang province and the 50MW first turbine of the Pleikrong Hydropower Plant in Central Highlands Kon Tum province will begin to generate electricity next month.

Major transformer stations and transmission lines, including the Doc Soi 500kV transformer station and Dong Hoa 220kV transformer station and the 220kV Trang Bach – Vat Cach – Dong Hoa, Quang Ninh - Cam Pha, Hai Phong – Vat Cach transmission lines, will also be ready by then.

So far this year, new power plants and turbines with a total capacity of 1,900 MW have gone on stream and their output added to the national grid.

They include the Tuyen Quang, Dai Ninh, A Vuong and Pleikrong hydropower plants, and the second gas turbine of the Ca Mau Power Plant No. 2 and the first turbine of the Nhon Trach gas power plant No. 1.

Transformers and transmission lines to transmit power from them to the national grid, including the 500kV O Mon-Cai Lay transmission line, have also been put up.
