US ready to give Vietnam GSP treatment.
Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai met in Ha Noi in 18 July 2009 with a visiting trade delegation from the US led by US Deputy Trade Representative Demetrios J Marantis.
Hai said he appreciated the good trading co-operation between Viet Nam and the United States, and expressed his hope that existing problems in trading Vietnamese catfish in the US would be resolved soon. He said Viet Nam had opened its market for American boneless beef, and urged the US to remove anti-dumping tariff on some Vietnamese commodities.
Demetrios J Marantis said he believed the two governments had good co-operation in economy and bilateral trade. The two countries needed to do more to boost that relationship, he said.
The US delegation asked Viet Nam to continue opening its market for US beef, adding that it hoped Viet Nam would soon reform its labour laws to suit international regulations.
