On the cancellation list is the still-to-be-constructed Me Tri Sport & Amusement Complex of 32 hectares. It was given an investment license in 2007 but most of the site is being used to grow rice.

Three slated golf projects still being used for rice paddies are Tuan Chau-Ha Tay ecotourism and amusement park, Chuong My Temple Lake Golf & Resort, and Ho Cam Quy golf resort and amusement complex.

The seven others are Me Linh golf and urban area, Ho Dong Suong golf course, Phu Man ecotourism and golf urban area, Long Bien ecotourism and golf urban area, Thanh Tri golf resort, Meo Gu international golf course, and a recent addition the list in Hoa Lac High Tech Zone.

Hanoi earlier this month submitted a plan to revoke the licenses of the first 10 golf courses because they are located in populous areas where displaced households would find it difficult to get jobs; on politically, culturally, socially and spiritually sensitive sites or could affect dike systems.

The golf course in the high tech zone was later added for the same reasons.

Hanoi already has four golf courses in operation and is building a further four in Soc Son and Long Bien Districts, in the eco-resort near Quan Son Lake of My Duc District, and one at Tan Vien International Tourism Area in Ba Vi District.

Nguyen Van Thinh, deputy office chief of Hanoi People’s Committee, said the Tan Vien golf course project is welcomed by local officers and residents as Ba Vi District does not have any significant cultural or tourism projects.
