A seminar promoting the Vietnam-Japan Economic Partnership Agreement (VJCPA) and the ASEAN-Australia-New Zealand Free Trade Agreement (AANZFTA) opened in Nha Trang City on June 28.
More than 70 businesses from six central provinces sent representatives to the seminar to discuss the FTA popularization.
The VJEPA, which came into force on October 1, 2009, covered fields such as trade, services, investment, and improvement of the business environment to create a stable and favourable legal framework for investment and trade activities between Vietnamese and Japanese businesses.
The event also provided representatives with useful information on farm products, seafood and shoes to be exported to Japan, and warned of some practical difficulties facing businesses when entering this demanding market.
For the AANZFTA, experts introduced the whole document and guiding circulars issued by the Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) and the Ministry of Finance (MoF) to help businesses put the agreement into practice.
Additionally, participants discussed issues related to bilateral trade ties between Vietnam and the relevant countries and the fulfillment of tax commitments to imports and exports.
The event was organized by the MoIT with funding source from the EU-Vietnam Multilateral Trade Assistance Project (MUTRAP III).
