Construction begins on biggest wood factory in Asia

On July 13, the MDF VRG Dongwha joint stock company broke the ground on a US$120 million project to build Asia’s biggest wood factory in the southern province of Binh Phuoc with a capacity of 300,000 m3 per year.
The factory, scheduled for completion in the first quarter of 2012, will process wood taken from the provinces of Binh Phuoc, Binh Duong, Tay Ninh and Dak Nong.
Its products will be exported to generate more jobs for thousands of on-the-spot workers, increase local revenue and boost the process of rural industrialisation and modernisation in Binh Phuoc.
VRG Dongwha is a joint venture company between the Republic of Korea’s Dongwha group, a leading wood business in Asia and the Vietnam Rubber Industry Group (VRIG).
The company aims to build a large medium-density fibreboard (MDF) factory equipped with modern facilities and advanced environmentally-friendly technologies from Germany, Sweden and Finland.
