Addressing the Vietnam-Japan Trade, Investment and Tourism Promotion Forum on November 15 in the Japanese city of Nagoya, State President Nguyen Minh Triet called for Japanese firms to intensify investment in Vietnam.
State President Nguyen Minh Triet stressed that Japan is the world’s leading economy but its investment in Vietnam is still modest. The State President pointed out that his visit to Nagoya after attending the 18 APEC Summit shows Vietnam’s attention to fostering the friendly relations and strategic partnership with Japan. He thanked Japan for having provided Vietnam with increasingly bigger ODA for years, even amid the world’s economic crisis.
Based on the fine political relations, economic, trade and investment cooperation between Vietnam and Japan has been forged strongly and quickly, but there is still room for stronger cooperation. State President Triet said the recent signing of two cooperative deals on building the second nuclear power plant and exploiting rare earths in Vietnam will help bring the bilateral strategic partnership to a new height. At the forum, State President Triet witnessed the signing of some cooperative agreements and economic contracts by Vietnamese and Japanese firms.
The deals and contracts involve in wastewater treatment, production of building materials, garment and textile, and water-based vegetable cultivation. On the same day, State President Triet visited a civil plane manufacture plant of Mitsubishi.
