The Mekong Delta Economic Cooperation Forum 2011 opens on Wednesday in Ca Mau Province, focusing on the topic “Mekong Delta – connectivity for sustainable development.”
The event attracts some 500 representatives from local authorities, enterprises and other organizations. The main activities at the forum this year include a scientific seminar on a regional connectivity mechanism, a Mekong Delta business forum, and an international economic cooperation conference.
“Each activity is aimed at creating a connectivity mechanism and policy between entrepreneurs of the 13 provinces and other local and foreign entrepreneurs, especially those from HCMC, to effectively tap the region’s advantages in agriculture, aquaculture and tourism,” said a representative of the organizing committee.
The forum will last until October 21. The Mekong Delta Economic Cooperation Forum was first held in HCMC in 2007, and then in Can Tho, An Giang and Kien Giang provinces in the three following years.
