Vietnam Ministry Plans to Invest VND49 Tln into Housing Projects in 2009-15

The Vietnamese Ministry of Construction has just submitted plans to invest VND49 trillion (US$2.97 billion) into housing development projects slated for 2009 to 2015 amid the government’s efforts to boost fiscal spending to VND110 trillion.
If approved, the ministry will build 200,000 apartments with a total space of 9.8 million square meters which will meet 30 per cent of housing demand during the time, the ministry said in its statement.
The ministry said that it expects to mobilize VND23.4 trillion from other economic sectors and VND25.6 trillion from the state coffer, the ministry said.
“If the plans are approved, we will use VND2.5 trillion from the US$1 billion stimulus package in the first two years,” Deputy Minister of Construction Nguyen Tran Nam said. (Youth)
