Vietnam is expanding international cooperation in studying, applying and developing high technologies in farming to raise the efficiency of the sector.
The country’s hi-tech application agriculture development project till 2020 underlines that the Vietnamese government creates favorable conditions in terms of legal procedures for Vietnamese organizations and individuals to participate in international cooperative programs, projects and associations operating in the field of agriculture.
The project also encourages international cooperation in developing hi-tech human resources for the agricultural sector.
The project, which has been approved by the Vietnamese government, is aimed to create new breakthroughs in agricultural production and obtain an annual agricultural growth of 3.5 per cent, helping to bring Vietnam’s farming technology level equivalent to that of other ASEAN countries.
By 2015, the country targets to put into operation one or two high-yield hybrid seeds and varieties for each kind of cultivated crop, domestic animal and aquatic product, and apply new hi-tech process in each field.
In addition, Vietnam aims to promote hi-tech application in agricultural sector with a focus on hi-tech application agricultural enterprises and hi-tech application agricultural cultivation zones. By 2015, each province and city belonging to key economic zones will have three to five hi-tech application agricultural enterprises, two to three hi-tech application agricultural zones, and the country will be home to three to five hi-tech application agricultural parks in some agricultural ecological areas. Hi-tech agricultural production values will account for 10-15 per cent of the nation’s total agricultural production values.
By 2020, each province and city belonging to key economic zones will have seven to 10 hi-tech application agricultural businesses, five to seven hi-tech application agricultural zones and each ecological area will have one to three hi-tech application agricultural zones. Hi-tech agricultural production values will account for 30-35 per cent of the nation’s total agricultural production values.
