HCMC leads in e-commerce development
Date: 12/26/2012 7:35:19 AM
For the first time an e-commerce index program was held by the Vietnam E-commerce Association showing that Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) led the country in e-commerce development in 2012, followed by Hanoi, Binh Phuoc and Ca Mau.

The rating based on four criteria - human resources and ICT infrastructure, and B2B, B2C and G2B transactions.
At the 2012 E-commerce Forum held recently in Ho Chi Minh City Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Tran Tuan Anh said that in the near future stronger efforts would be made to develop e-commerce across the board and strengthen state management of e-commerce to contribute to trade development in the context of international economic integration.
Tran Huu Linh, the Head of the E-commerce and IT Department under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, said that a greater emphasis had been placed on developing human resources for e-commerce development in Vietnam and making the most of IT and the internet to make it easier for businesses to contact customers, reduce advertising and operating costs and increase revenue.
Most businesses have used emails in business to advertise their products, share information and take care of their customers.

However, facing security risks businesses need to better understand legal regulations on e-commerce while getting together with state agencies to resolve problems.
