WB-sponsored poverty reduction project launched in Quang Nam

The Ministry of Planning and Investment, the World Bank (WB), and the Quang Nam Provincial People’s Committee on September 11 jointly launched the Central Highlands Poverty Reduction Project in Quang Nam Province.
The project, worth US$165 million, will be realized from 2014-2019 in the provinces of Dak Lak, Dak Nong, Gia Lai, Kon Tum, Quang Ngai and Quang Nam.
The total investment for the project will be funded from the State budget and the Official Development Assistance (ODA) loans from the WB.
In Quang Nam Province, the project will be implemented in three mountainous districts with a total capital of US$12.1 million, including US$11 million from loans and US$1.1 million from the corresponding capital.
The aim of the project is to improve the livelihood in poor communes and develop infrastructure at communes and villages.
According to the plan, around 7,500 households in the province will benefit from the project.
