An international conference will open next Monday in Ho Chi Minh City to review the cooperation outcomes among Vietnam, ASEAN and Russia and discuss prospects for their cooperation in the future.
The event will be hosted by the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics for two days until Tuesday, the Vietnam News Agencyreported.
ASEAN Secretary General Le Luong Minh and Vietnam Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan are scheduled to take part in the event, according to Prof. Dr. Ta Ngoc Tan, director of the academy.
Dr. Tan said that the partnership between Vietnam, ASEAN and Russia has yet to reach its full potential, especially in trade, education, culture, science and technology.
In such a context, he said, the conference will be one of the efforts to assess the future of the relationship between ASEAN and Russia.
The event’s agenda will comprise three discussions to examine the significance of Vietnam, ASEAN and Russia relations and assess the current situation and future prospects of their ties, Dr. Tan said.
The conference’s participants will also discuss breakthrough measures and recommendations to boost the relationship between Vietnam, ASEAN and Russia, contributing to cooperation and development in the Asia-Pacific region in particular and the world in general, Tan said.
In addition, the event will be also a chance to appraise and promote the role of Vietnam as a bridge between the 10-country bloc and Russia.
