Claudio Dordi, head of the EU-MUTRAP’s Technical Assistance team said the law has been implemented over the past 20 years and proved effective in the Europe. It has played an important part in free trade agreement negotiations among concerned nations.

Vietnam is a dynamic country in economic development and international integration, so it is urgent for the nation to promote the efficiency of the law, he stressed.

With European experience, the EU-MUTRAP’s experts will help Vietnam enhance its capacity of law enforcement in the context of global market integration, he added.

So far, there have been over 100 cases violating the competition law in Vietnam.

Trinh Minh Hien, an EU-MUTRAP expert, said violations should be publicised and handled as soon as possible to help businesses to create a healthy competition environment in Vietnam.

The competition law was issued on December 3, 2004 with the aim of restricting unhealthy competition.-
