Viet Nams largest technology centre opened

The 2.1- hectare centre with an investment capital of up to VND600 billion (US$27 million) will be the largest technology complex in the country consisting of research, manufacturing and assessment on technology.

The inauguration is one of the key events of Ha Noi to celebrate its Party Congress as well as confirming the rapid developments in the field of science and technology in the capital city.

The centre is designed for 200 scientists working in five zones in the complex.

The modern research equipment of the centre can also connect scientists at research institutes, universities and key laboratories.

This is also a place that connects Vietnamese oversea and foreign scientists by cooperation programmes on science and technology.

In addition, the centre has a closed system consisting of a factory of manufacturing mechanic technology, electronics and automation and equipment to assess and analyse technology.

Technology which is researched, transferred and assessed at the centre includes manufacturing mechanics, electronics and automation, energy saving, solar cells and environmental technology.

Of these, the centre will boost investing to produce solar cells with high efficiency and small size to implement the country’s energy plan by 2030 and is expected to connect to the national grid in 2020.

The research of solar cells of the technology research, transfer and assessment centre will be a solution for the nation’s energy needs in the upcoming years, Nguyen Quang Viet, deputy head of the Science section of the Electricity of Viet Nam (EVN) told Dau Tu (Investment) newspaper.

The centre has synchronised technological lines, which will be the foundation of the socio-economic development of not only Ha Noi but also Viet Nam, said the Minister of Science and Technology Nguyen Quan.

For sustainable development with a long-term vision, the centre also considered people one of the most important factors.

Pham Van Hiep, centre director, said that the centre has attracted many dedicated students from the Universities of Technology, Military Technical Academy and Viet Nam National University in Ha Noi and HCM City.
