Vietnam’s 2nd Oil Refinery to Start Operation Next Year

Nghi Son Refinery and Petrochemical complex (NSRP complex), the second and the biggest of its kind in Vietnam so far, is set to finish its mechanical installation in the coming November and start commercial operation in July 2017.
NSRP has an estimated investment of $9 billion, sponsored by four corporations. Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (PetroVietnam) holds a 25.1% stake, Kuwait Petroleum International Ltd 35.1%, Idemitsu Kosan Co., Ltd 35.1% and Mitsui Chemical, Inc. 4.7%.
The refinery has capacity to process 200,000 barrels of crude oil imported from Kuwait per day (equivalent to 10 million tons per year).
EPC works started on July 22, 2013, carried out by a consortium comprised of JGC Corporation, Chiyoda, GS E&C, SK E&C, Technip France and Technip Geoproduction.
Dung Quat oil refinery, the first oil refining facility in the country, is located in the central province of Quang Ngai. It currently has a capacity to process 6.5 million tons of crude oil per year.
