The Part chief leading a high-ranking delegation of Vietnam arrived at the Beijing International Airport for an official visit to the neighboring country from January 12-15 at the invitation of his Chinese counterpart.

 

The signing of the 15 agreements followed talks between the two leaders. The deals include an agreement on training senior officials between the Communist Party of Vietnam and Communist Party of China, and a memorandum of understanding on cooperation between the CPV Central Committee’s Economic Commission and the Development Research Center of China’s State Council.

 

The two sides inked a document on technical assistance in making planning for the Lao Cai-Hanoi-Haiphong railway, a joint vision statement on defense cooperation between the two defense ministries until 2025, and a framework agreement on land border gate cooperation between Vietnam’s Defense Ministry and the China General Administration of Customs.

 

Vietnam and China also clinched documents on cooperation in technical trade barriers, and releasing aquatic varieties in the Gulf of Tonkin.

 

In their talks, Party chief Trong congratulated China on its achievements in reform and building socialism with Chinese characteristics. He expressed his wish that the Party, Government and people of China will accomplish the target of building a democratic, civilized and harmonious socialist China.

 

He affirmed that Vietnam always attaches importance to ties with China and wants to foster the sustainable friendship and win-win comprehensive cooperation with China for the benefit of their peoples and the sake of peace and prosperity in the region and the world.

 

The two leaders expressed delight at growing ties between the two Parties and countries over the years. They agreed that at a time of uncertainties in many parts of the world, the stable development and achievements of both countries are important to the two peoples.

 

Meanwhile, Xi pledged China would assist Vietnam to host the APEC Summit in 2017, while the Vietnam side affirmed support for China in hosting an international cooperation summit called “One Belt, One Road” in 2017.

 

The two leaders reach consensus on the significance of forging a stronger win-win partnership in economic, trade, investment and other fields for rapid and sustainable growth in each country, creating a firm foundation for further development of bilateral ties.

 

The two sides will urge ministries, sectors, localities and businesses to focus on timely and effectively implementing the agreed plans, programs and projects, while taking measures to maintain bilateral trade growth in a more stable and balanced manner.

 

Regarding East Sea issues, General Secretary Trong asserted Vietnam’s consistent stance of persistently dealing with East Sea issues by peaceful means, in compliance with international law, including the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, and with respect to diplomatic and legal processes, fully and efficiently executing the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (DOC) and striving together with ASEAN to adopt a “Code of Conduct in the East Sea (COC) soon.
