J-Power Power Development Company (Japan) came to Khanh Hoa to learn about investment opportunities for a gas turbine power plant project, with a capacity of 3,000 MW, with an investment of nearly $ 3.2 billion.
On the afternoon of November 12, Khanh Hoa Provincial Peoples Committee Chairman Nguyen Tan Tuan said that the provincial Peoples Committee had a meeting with representatives of J-Power Power Development Company (Japan) - the enterprise wished to cooperate. to invest in projects in Van Phong economic zone.

At the meeting, the enterprise discussed about the possibility of investing and developing the Van Phong mixed cycle gas turbine power plant project in Ninh Thuy Industrial Park (Industrial Park) (Ninh Thuy ward, town. Ninh Hoa).
Reporting on the feasibility of the project, the representative of J-Power Power Development Company said that the Van Phong mixed cycle gas turbine power plant project, with a capacity of 3,000 MW, will be built at Ninh Thuy Industrial Park with a total area of about 40ha, divided into 2 phases.
Phase 1, deploying the plant with 2 units of generators with a total capacity of 1,500MW, and commercial operation in 2025;
Phase 2 has a capacity of 1,500MW and goes into commercial operation after 2028.
Main material source is liquefied gas of Vietnam Oil and Gas Group, partly imported; gas consumption is about 1.2 million tons / year (phase 1). The auxiliary material of the plant is diesel oil with a total consumption of 20,000m3 / year and is supplied by Vietnams petrochemical companies. All equipment invested in the project are the most advanced equipment available today.
The total investment of the project is nearly 3.2 billion USD.
According to information from Van Phong Economic Zone, the land of about 40ha of land that J-Power wants to use as a gas power project is clean land, the site clearance process has been completed. Basic infrastructure is ready as well.
However, at present, Khanh Hoa has not reported to the Ministry of Industry and Trade on the addition of some planned positions for gas power and liquefied gas storage that the Provincial Peoples Committee has chosen in the past time.
"If the Ministry of Industry and Trade agrees to add to the power plan VIII, the Provincial Peoples Committee will report to the units that have researched and want to invest in this field", Chairman of Khanh Hoa said.
