Hanoi, formerly known as Thang Long - "land of the dragon", located in the heart of North Delta, the Red River Delta is a convergence of favorable conditions for economic development, culture, trade, international trade and tourism. With synchronous communication network systems, including road, river, rail, and air, making Hanoi a favorable location for the development of the industry. The large corporations such as Canon, Yamaha, Motor and hundreds of the world's leading manufacturers have set up factories here. Geographical location:
Hanoi is located on the shores of the Red River, between the rich Northern plains.
Adjacent to the provinces: Thai Nguyen, Vinh Phuc province in the North; Ha Nam and Hoa Binh in the South; Bac Ninh, Bac Giang, Hung Yen province in the East; Hoa Binh and Phu Tho province in the West.

The capital has four seasons of spring, summer, autumn and winter.
Climate: tropical wet season.
The hot season lasts from May to September, accompanied by heavy rainfall, average temperature 29, 2 º C.
From November to March the following year is the winter climate with an average temperature of 15, 2 º C.
Terrain:
Lower from the North to the South and from the West to the East with an average elevation of 5 to 20 meters above sea level, 3/4 natural area of Hanoi is plain.
Hanoi is served by Noi Bai International Airport, located in the Soc Son District, approximately 40 km (25 mi) north of Hanoi. Noi Bai is the only international airport for the northern regions of Vietnam. Besides, the city also has Gia Lam Airport in the east, in Gia Lam district.
Hanoi will have additionally another international airport, which will cost $8 billion, being the highest foreign investment so far in the history of Vietnam. The construction will be carried out in three stages,the first phase will start in 2011 until 2015.
There are two main highways linking the airport and city. The route to the city via Thăng Long Bridge is more direct than Highway 1, which runs along the outskirts of the city. The main highways are shared by cars, motor scooters, with separate lanes by the side for bicycles.
Hanoi is the origin departure point for many Vietnam Railways train routes in the country. The Reunification Express (tàu Thống Nhất) runs from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City from Hanoi station (formerly Hang Co station), with stops at cities and provinces along the line. Trains also depart Hanoi frequently for Hai Phong and other northern cities.
Hanoi also is the traffic hub of the railway line in the country and a transshipment route to Beijing, China and several European countries.
GDP of Hanoi accounted for 12.73% of the country and about 41% of Red River Delta. In ranking of provincial competitiveness index of Vietnam in 2011, Hanoi ranked No. 36/63 provinces.

Hanoi has the highest Human Development Index among the cities in Vietnam. According to a recent ranking by PricewaterhouseCoopers, Hanoi will be the fastest growing city in the world in term of GDP growth from 2008 to 2025.
In addition to eight existing industrial parks, Hanoi is building five new large-scale industrial parks and 16 small- and medium-sized industrial clusters. The non-state economic sector is expanding fast, with more than 48,000 businesses currently operating under the Enterprise Law.
Together with economic growth, Hanoi's appearance has also changed significantly, especially in recent years. Infrastructure is constantly being upgraded, with new roads and an improved public transportation systems.
